The Folks Out Back
Some of the glass negatives shot by John B. Capewell are in terrific shape with crisp, sharp images that reproduce beautifully while others are somewhat worse for wear. This is one of the latter sadly. It’s a little blurry which … Continue reading
Henry & Young John in Younger Days
I’ve been running photographs of John Capewell’s sons recently, and I decided to step back a little further in the past when the Capewell boys were toddlers. Here the boys wear stern, somewhat anxious expressions. My guess is that their … Continue reading
Young John & Henry
Last week I presented a pair of negatives of young John Capewell in a body cast. I assume that the cast was a corrective measure for an accident or curvature of the spine. In this picture we have a … Continue reading

A Neoclassical Mystery
I have here a mystery that I’m hoping won’t remain a mystery for long. John Capewell thought enough of this to shoot a glass negative, but sadly, I don’t know what it is.
The Return of the Peculiar Trio
Last week, I presented a photograph by John Capewell of a well-dressed trio situated oddly in an incongruous setting. This week , our peculiar trio is back in yet another strange setting.
W, is that you?
Is it just me or does this guy look like the 43rd President of the United States?
