Figs & Goat Cheese

One of the advantages of living in South Philly are the fig trees. The old timers planted them in their backyards – Italians love their figs! They make cookies, wrap them in prosciutto, put up preserves. I like to cut them in half and pair them with goat cheese and walnuts for breakfast. Sometimes I drizzle them with honey. The advantage of this dish is that it doesn’t involve turning on an oven, I welcome any excuse not to turn on the gas during these miserably hot summers!
