On a recent trip to the art supply store, I discovered these beautiful little packets of patterned paper. I scooped up five packs, having no clue as to what I was going to make – I just wanted them, you know? I had some downtime on Sunday, and I headed up to the studio to make a jewelry box.
I went over the box with fine grit sandpaper, and cleaned away the dust.
I painted the box with an espresso hued acrylic paint in a matte finish. Two coats did the trick.
I measured the size of the top of the box, and cut the patterned paper out with an X-acto knife. I brushed Mod Podge on the back of the paper and adhered it to the box. I gave it about an hour to dry, then applied a coat of a matte varnish to protect the paper.
A special box for a special brooch!
