Broad & Chestnut • The Photo Elective

Here’s another Photo Elective shot by Tina Garceau. As I’ve said before, all sophomore students majoring in illustration at The Philadelphia College of Art were required to take a minor course in photography where the students would take and process black and white, 35mm images. I lived in South Jersey and commuted to school, while Tina lived in and shot her photographs around the school’s downtown Philadelphia campus. Here she has a shot showing a transit bus stopped at the intersection of Broad and Chestnut. A crowd of women and children are boarding the bus and heading somewhere South. Maybe they were seeing a movie playing in one of Chestnut Street’s many now extinct movie theaters.
