This recipe for Sloppy Joes is an easy-to-make dinner when you don’t feel like making dinner. I pulled this together in 20 minutes, mainly out of pantry ingredients, and served it with a side of potato salad. It’s an American classic, comfort food, and it got the fellas’ stamp of approval!
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped (I used a red one, it’s what I had on hand)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- hamburger rolls
- Over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, drain the excess liquid. Add the butter, onions, and peppers and cook for several minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk the garlic, mustard, ketchup, light brown sugar, salt and pepper. Add to the beef mixture and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Serve on toasted rolls.
Good weekend food too!
Yep, that’s when I made it!
