Another tiled entryway I discovered wandering around in South Philly – this one on 8th & Wharton Streets. I’m assuming that once upon a time this was a business, but try as I might, I couldn’t find any information on who W. Maiuro was or what kind of business he ran. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!
I don’t think I’ve seen these anywhere else outside Italy!
It was a heavily populated Italian section of the city back when these were made.
