Italian Market Festival – Procession of the Saints

According to St. Paul’s Parish this is a procession of statues of Roman Catholic Saints led through the street by a traditional Italian brass band.

People carry or walk with statues in order to thank a saint for blessings they received or to ask for a favor from the saint. Others adorn the saint by pinning donations to ribbons that hang from every saint. Continue reading

The Countess Amarela

As I am working on my digital illustrations and vector graphics I often save versions of my files as I go along in case I have to backtrack. It might be that I have turned down a creative blind alley or that a hard drive has given up the ghost. Both situations have happened more than once which is why I save versions of projects in a few different places.

Digital Doodles

Chicken, Brussels Sprouts, & Chickpea Salad

Last night’s dinner was Brussels sprouts, chickpeas, avocado, red roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, chicken, and feta cheese tossed in a garlicky lemon vinaigrette. It was a bowl of my favorite things, and the fellas liked it too! We’re big fans of Brussels sprouts, so it was great to have one more chance to serve them that’s not a fall/winter holiday.
