The Diplomat from Grorfleplotz

Once again I am ricocheting back and forth between analog and digital illustration. Today I am back in the digital domain with my latest Halloween Head which I call The Diplomat from Grorfleplotz. I’m not sure what the specific honorific would be for this diplomat from the far distant planet of Grofleplotz, but once the universal interpreter helmet it is wearing is properly calibrated, I’m sure we will get that sorted out. Hopefully, they’re coming in peace.

Teenage Beast • Coming Through!

I continue to carve out the Teenage Beast story in my sketchbooks. In this case, I am finishing up a 7-inch by 10-inch Canson XL Mixed Media pad. I pencil in my characters and then ink them in with my Sailor Fude De Mannen fountain pen which is quickly becoming my absolute favorite pen.

1980年代の東京の吸血鬼

Tokyo Vampire Circa 1980s

It seems that my series of Halloween Heads has started anew with the completion of a Japanese vampire on the heels of last week’s Phantom of the Opera. Halloween Heads are illustrations of monsters I’ve created in the superlative vector art application Affinity Designer. Generally, I try to stick to a classic stable of monsters, mutations and madmen from the movies, but I have made a bit of a departure with my latest addition.
